The Optimism Oasis is a 20 acre, multi-sports & cultural center proposed to be built in the historic Northside Community in Wilmington, North Carolina behind the Boys & Girls Club of SENC and across from DC Virgo Preparatory Academy. 

 

1. Social & Economic Needs: Optimism Oasis will provide 100+ jobs, two daycare centers (all day and hourly) and be a safe urban sanctuary providing youth countless creative outlets after school, on weekends, holidays & summer vacation. In addition to our extensive athletic facilities, we will have a state-of-the-art Maker Space, an E-Sports arena, our Leadership Academy, 100m Ninja Obstacle Course and dozens of inspirational & motivational exhibits on career & success, dream-building, nutrition & wellness.

 

2. Safety Needs: Recognizing our seaside location, Optimism Oasis will offer FREE swimming and water safety lessons to ALL New Hanover County students. Optimism Oasis buses will also provide safe and easy transport for kids & families to and from the facility. The Oasis will be a one-of-a-kind gathering place for everyone in our community of all ages and abilities to exercise, play and learn year-round. 

 

3. Athletic Facility Needs: Optimism Oasis will significantly improve Wilmington's inadequate athletic infrastructure. Its state-of-the-art athletic components and capacity are designed to serve our present population and to meet our significant projected population growth. Optimism Oasis will be a highly attractive destination for national, regional & local track meets, swim meets, Youth Tournament Sports, triathlons, basketball, volleyball & pickleball tournaments.
